CAR WASH Fundraiser
What a beautiful day we had for the Car Wash fundraiser on Sat, 15 Sept! A total of 16 scouts and 8 adults come out and work! For their efforts, we earned $399! This is about $100 more than we raised in the spring! Some of our customers included the former scout, Matt Corbertt, his parents and the owner of Rolls Royce! Despite the competition across the way, we did great job of marketing and cleaning cars! Thank you for all who volunteered to make the fall carwash fundraiser such a success!

Thanks to all the participants for their hard work to make the fall carwash fundraiser such a successs, especially:

· John Corbett for announcing our fundraiser to his church
· Mrs. Min Lee for washing and drying all the towels after the carwash to be re-used in Spring '08 and
· Mr. Yong Lee for his usual wonderful coordination skills in organizing this very successful car wash!
Fall Advancement Camp Out at Burke Lake
11 Scouts and 6 adults made the campout at Burke Lake. 10 Scouts and 4 adults camped at least 1 night, and 5 of the Scouts and 2 of the adults camped both nights.  On Saturday, the Scouts worked on compass skills and completed the Orienteering course at Burke Lake to complete the First Class Orienteering requirement. The Scouts also completed the First Class plant identification requirement,

After dinner, the Scouts played a terrorist Wide Area game. Several of the Scouts defended a position in a field and “planted” a bomb. The rest of the Scouts attacked the defenders and tried to “capture” the bomb before it exploded. Flashlights were used as laser weapons. The Scouts has a great weekend, good food, and fun games.

RECRUITING/ WEBELOS DAY
October 6

Troop 1849 Webelos Day October 6 beginning at 10 AM at Burke Lake we will host Webelos and parents. This is our opportunity to bring in new Scouts by showing them who we are and a bit about the adventures they can expect as a member of troop 1849. Six Scouts from the troop and 13 Webelos Cub Scouts enjoyed a fine morning of games and Hot Dogs.

All,

I know you are all very busy, however I hope you can find about an hour in your schedules to support the Scouting for Food effort on 3 November, followed by a 10 November food collection.

On 3 November, we will meet at St Andrew's Church, our usual meeting place, at 1 pm to distribute empty bags for pick up the following week. A neighborhood near the church has been assigned to us. The neighborhood has numerous townhouses, so the work is fairly easy.

Currently we only have three families that have registered to participate: Brown's Rothberg's, and Enis'. Sandy Rothberg and Susan Enis are coordinating this effort, so in reality we only have one family scheduled to participate.

I suspect this will take about an hour; the boys run from door to door dropping off empty bags. Time spent goes toward community service hours, which are required for advancement. Boys need to wear their uniforms.

The troop needs your support and participation. Please contact Susan Enis to confirm your participation. We can not execute Scouting for Food with only one families support.

Please sign up though Susan Enis: susan@ussfcu.org  .
