TROOP 1849 WINTER CAMPING

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

 

 

Wear For Inspection (Must Be Worn, Not In Pack)

 

_____loose, warm non-cotton pants

_____loose, wool, polypropylene or fleece shirt

_____stocking/knit cap or other winter cap

_____long johns (top and bottom)

_____lined winter coat/jacket, preferably parka with hood

_____gloves or mittens (preferably double layer)

_____good hiking boots (if leather, treated with Sno-Seal)

_____wool sweater or fleece layers, as needed

_____two layer socks, thin polypro, plus heavy, non-cotton socks

 

Sleeping Gear

 

_____plastic ground sheet

_____sleeping pad (inflatable-Thermo-rest- or closed cell foam)

_____sleeping bag (preferably rated down to 15 degrees or lower, in plastic bag inside stuff sack)

_____fleece sleeping bag liner, fleece blanket or throw, if desired

 

Extra Clothing (In Pack) - These Are Minimums

 

_____1 pair of loose, non-cotton pants

_____1 set (top and bottom) of long johns, preferably non-cotton

_____1 wool sweater or fleece pullover (best) or sweat shirt (poor)

_____2-3 pr heavy (non-cotton) socks (3 if wet weather)

_____1 stocking or knit cap for sleeping (unless worn)        

_____1 raincoat/non-plastic poncho unless winter parka is Gortex

_____1 pr shoes/boots (if not wearing waterproof boots)

_____1 pr gloves or mittens (2 pr if wet weather)

_____1 scarf or muffler (optional but nice)

 

Other Items In Pack

_____canteen or drink bottle

_____assigned patrol gear (for example, tent, tarp, etc.)

_____eating dish/plate and utensils and hot beverage cup

_____optional items (flashlight, matches, cord, scout knife,

            also: bring a sled or sled "dish" (if snow in location)
