Troop 1849 Check out the activities Troop 1849 is involved in. There is always lots of fun, sharing of knowledge, fun and learning going on at the numerous events Troop 1849 is involved in. Never a dull moment for sure! June 2009 Summer Camp in Ockanikon, PA An awesome time had by all!!!!
Everyone in attendence Time to wake up!
Home sweet home Deep in discussion
Its starting!
Hard at work
The food was delicious!
A little rain never hurt anybody!
Can we cross?
Outdoor sports! Fun!
May 2009 The day couldn't have been any better for a car wash. A sprinkle of rain to remove the pollen in the air and onto to cars, followed by a warm sunny day, just enough for folks to notice the yellow stuff on their cars to be washed away by our Scouts of Troop 1849. Boy did we work hard that day! Even had to turn some cars away in the end! We couldn't have asked for more!
April 2009 We return to our annual Spring Camp-O-Ree! The warm weather brought out out the Spirit of the Civil War Swampfox in all! What a great day at Sky Meadow Park. Taking roll call, all are pretty happy to get the day started including Mr. Florence.
With all present and accounted for, the Scouts get a little grub in their bellies and the day begins! Rounded up and ready to go, no Scout event begins without homage paid to the flag.
And off they go! Not only are our Scouts strong with great stamina, but fast and determined!
Getting pancakes to flip can be a challenging effort as these scouts know from their shared facial expressions!
The Scouts lend their knowledge and share their input on how to stablize wounds on an injured Scout, the human First Aid volunteer!
Obviously impressed by his fellow Scouts First Aid Knowledge, he is secure should an injury occur. As will all medical circumstances, this Scout believes in a clean and sterile environ even if in the wilderness! A Scout is clean!
With wounds a plenty, another First Aid volunteer requires attention! The boys band together and transport our wounded to the Med tent!
No battle is ever complete until the artillery fire their equipment. Watch out below! Incoming water bottles!
Ammunition is needed! Despite modern technology, Signaling provides basic communication when batteries die.
At the end of a long day, the boys, tall and small, gather to start the fire! Sometimes from scratch, other times in a quicker manner.
Scouts in attendance know the "inside story!" While the food is being prepared, the scouts rest and compare notes on the day!
Adult Scouts, parents and siblings alike await the chow line!
Nothing says Scout cooking like a smile on a Scout's face and dinner in hand.
So tasty it is, they are back for more! It was quite a day of fun!
And now for our entertainment, Mr. Snyder will get to the point and dazzle us with his antlers!
March 2009 The Scouts "caved in" to the fun during their Spelunking Adventure! With tents pitched, it's time to make a fire! Camping is always fun! Every campout needs a bugler! Roosters need not apply! Okay! Okay! I'm up! Actually it's the coffee that really gets my day started.
Time to prepare for the caving experience and Wow! check out what treasures we will find!
Now here are a few tips to remember ...... Good Job!
We are on our way now! Point that light over here....
Stalagmites and stalagtites can you tell me the difference? Either way they are still cool!
Mother Nature is so incredible! Boy! Did I get some great shots! With the Spelunking accomplished, hunger strikes! Teaching the younger scouts is key. Time to cook the food and everyone checks out the progress... Some happily.... others peacefully... others are just glad to be part of the process..... Slow and Steady.... .Is it time yet? Finally.....the chow is terrific! Satiated and the look of contentment What? No dessert?!

Convoying out early Sat morning for a full day of events, scouts and parents had a full day ahead of them. Facilities visited include the Radar facility, Fire Department with a demonstration of a fire truck spraying water on the runway, Control Tower, briefing with naval personnel pointing out various landmarks, tour of the Aviation Museum, preflight inspection of the static aircrafts, rides in the flight simulation and finally counseling with Adult Scouts on careers in Aviation. Weather through the night made for some interesting conversations in the morning having endured rain and a monsterous wind. The next morning the boys had breakfast and flew their FPGs (Foam Plate Gliders - for us civilians). A great campout that earned many the Aviation merit Badges. Pilot, Mr. Tapper, shows the scouts various points on the static display. View of the Potomac from the Control Tower
The Scouts pose in front of the rescue fire truck. Pilot, Mr. Boudreau, explains details about flying
Dad oversees Scouts navigational skills in a flight simulator . Pilot, Mr. Brown, discusses one of the proponents of flight. ********************************************************************** Hike-O-Ree - 8 Nov 2008 Getting a jumpstart on a 10 mile hike in the Shenandoah National Park was quite an invigorating adventure for a couple of scouts, a parent and the crew of "forever Scouts" patrol. Scouts, Yong K. and Sean B., were our trail leaders for the day as veterans hikers Pete Davidson and Dan Wynne shared their knowledge of mastering the hike one on one. It was a great day with clear and majestic views, a little cloud cover and temperatures best suited for hiking. check out all the photos by clicking here.
